Post traumatic stress disorder is a neurological injury, caused by a single traumatic event; including but not limited to experiencing violence, sexual abuse, witnessing violence, severe accident, or death of a loved one. Research shows, adult brains can take approximately 6 to 8 months to recover from one traumatic event.
Complex post-traumatic stress disorder (C-PTSD) is caused by repeated traumatic experiences over an extended period of time causing lifelong neurological changes/injuries and can lead to illnesses. Adverse childhood experiences of trauma can severely affect a child's developing mind, causing neurological changes, severe depression, memory loss, physical distress, sleep disturbances, autoimmune disorders, onset of illnesses and can be debilitating. Post traumatic stress disorder can affect every aspect of an individual's life. Valor Youth can lead happy heathy lives, there is no obstacle that they cannot overcome.
